Frankie
After an idyllic childhood in NZ, Frankie flew to London, a wide-eyed 19 year-old. Dabbling in journalism, a bit of waitressing and travel, she returned to NZ to complete a Degree in Literature and Politics. Heading back to England, she travelled some more and landed a fabulous job for a French Film Production company, later to become part of MGM. Seven years was long enough in the film industry for Frankie to realise the need to do ‘something more worthy’. She re-trained and became an English teacher. With two young boys in tow, Frankie returned to NZ in search of childhood memories of long hot summers and space. One thing remained a constant throughout her career changes, growing plants. Now Frankie is determined to feed her teenage boys with homegrown fruit and veges, all from her small suburban plot. She’ll be writing about all her garden highs and lows on Fly Buys Communities.
