Damien O'Carroll

After getting far too bored with university to actually bother finishing the science degree he was doing, Damien ended up working in a music shop, selling CDs and funny old things called "cassettes". A short time later he bought the shop and started a thrilling 11-year adventure in retail, which he enjoyed... for at least two years. But three very good things came from this experience; the first was an appreciation for an extremely broad range of music and the second was a truly massive and somewhat intimidating CD collection. The third was his introduction to writing by way of a weekly CD review column in a local paper. Unfortunately the paper didn't last long, but the love of writing did. Following his time in the music shop Damien swears he had a brief career as a secret agent before his first real journalist-job freelancing for a far more robust newspaper writing about music and entertainment, real estate (yes, really...) and cars. The “writing about cars” bit eventually led to a job as assistant editor at Driver magazine doing just that. Four years later and he is back freelancing, still writing about cars, but now also writing about music and entertainment again, this time for Fly Buys Communities.
